The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness.  It is a non-for-profit community-service organization.  Post 10 is active in the Greater Manassas Community to serve the needs of the veteran, his/her family, and the community at large.

Our Post is named for Manassas native son Cpl. Robert V. McMaugh, USMC.  Robert was a member of the Marine Security Guard (MSG) at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon.  On 18 APR 1983 he was manning Post 1 when the embassy was attacked by terrorists in a van laden with 2,000 lbs. of explosives.  Robert was killed along with 16 Americans and dozens of Lebanese citizens.

On Saturday, 6 NOV 10, Post 10 will host the 2nd Annual Veterans Day Parade in Old Town Manassas.  Starting time is 1100 hours.  If you wish to volunteer, participate or purchase an ad or sponsorship in the souvenir program please check our website at  www.manassasveteransparade.org  You may also e-mail any questions to us at info@manassasveteransparade.org
